Some Cracker Barrel Old Country Store restaurants around the country are now serving beer and wine.

According to national reports, this test program was rolled out on June 2nd and is being offered so far at only about 20 Cracker Barrels. Of course, we had to follow up to see what was happening here at our Lubbock Cracker Barrel, located at 5018 Milwaukee Ave. The answer we received was a 'no.' Lubbock is not one of the Cracker Barrels rolling out beer and wine at this time.

Of course, that's not to say it couldn't happen down the road we suppose, as it appears the program is seeing much success in other markets...and that's not a surprise.

Cracker Barrel is even offering flavorful mimosas in two options: orange and strawberry. This definitely sounds like it would serve up well with breakfast.

I'm a huge fan of good old-fashioned biscuits and gravy, pancakes and all the other home-cooked breakfast options there. Cracker Barrel offers more than breakfast, so serving beer and wine could really help them compete for attention throughout the day and elevate them up a notch in their casual dining status.

Do you think this is a good idea for Cracker Barrel? It's a program that was set in motion before the coronavirus pandemic. The resulting national shutdown has brought unprecedented challenges, and much like other restaurants, Cracker Barrel is working hard to get back on their feet.

We hope this new program will help them come through this crisis, and we're definitely curious to see if it will roll out sometime in the future here in Lubbock. In the mean time, if you're traveling this summer, you may find a Cracker Barrel Old Country Store and Restaurant serving up beer, wine, and mimosas.
