The rumors were true: Jermaine Jones the so-called "gentle giant" was kicked off "American Idol" last night. Why? Jermaine has four outstanding warrants that he didn't tell the producers about.
Earlier this week, "Idol" executive producers Ken Warwick and Nigel Lythgoe confronted him with his criminal history on camera.
The footage was shown at the end of last night's live show, but Jermaine wasn't there in person. Nigel told him, quote, "We are not allowed to have anyone who has an outstanding warrant on our program, and you've got four of them. We have to let you go."
They also told him that if he'd "come clean" and told them about this up front, they would've tried to help him resolve it so that he could continue on the show. He said he didn't tell the show about the warrants because, quote, "I was scared and nervous I didn’t want to get judged. I didn't want to get penalized for anything that happened in the past. I was just hoping that I could get it taken care of." Jermaine thanked them for the opportunity, hugged both producers and left.
Before all this went down, he was planning to sing "Somewhere Out There" this week.

For the record, TheSmokingGun.com reports that Jermaine has FIVE outstanding warrants, including one from 2006 that's related to a "narcotics bust." Since then, he's been giving police fake names . . . and racking up the warrants.
