Which Texas Tech Football Game Should Ric Flair Come to in 2022?

At last week's Texas Tech game against the Texas Longhorns, there were plenty of storylines and basketball implications that were widely discussed. The atmosphere was so incredible that the story of 16-time World Champion Ric Flair being at the game was a footnote to Mark Adams and the Red Raiders' win over Chris Beard's Longhorns.

The Red Raiders men's basketball squad went on to beat West Virginia and lose to Oklahoma following the win over the Longhorns and are trying to hold on to a top-four seed in the NCAA tournament as they look forward to their final seven games of the regular season.

Back to Flair...

Even with the Texas Tech vs. Chris Beard storylines, Ric Flair made an impression on the crowd and people in attendance, as the ultimate showman is apt to do. You could say he's a natural. After the game, Flair took to social media to thank the Texas Tech basketball program and his middle man Davis W. Smith for inviting him to the game.

Just look at Flair in his natural habitat eating up a packed house with a microphone in his hand like he's done thousands of times in his career.

After the game, one of those fans in attendance got to meet Ric Flair. That fan just happened to be Texas Tech's new head football coach Joey McGuire, who's said in interviews that he loves the dynamics and energy of professional wrestling and that nobody does it better than Flair. McGuire loves Flair so much he tweets a GIF of Flair to signal that a new recruit has committed to his Red Raiders program.

That mutual respect was evident in the pair's meeting, which led to Flair saying he wanted to return for a football game this fall.

Flair is a huge Georgia Bulldogs fan so he's no stranger to college football. I bet he could give one hell of a pregame speech if given the opportunity.

That all brings me to the question: which Texas Tech football game should Ric Flair attend?

There are several options of course as the Red Raiders will play their full slate of home games in 2022, but I've got a few circled on the calendar for the Nature Boy to look at.

Right off the bat, let's cross Murray State, West Virginia and Kansas off the list. Sure, Flair creates buzz, but if you're bringing in the legend let's put him in front of a packed house. Baylor and Oklahoma would be two intriguing options. Even with the Big 12 Champion Bears returning a large portion of their team and Coach McGuire coaching against his former players for the first time, I don't think that's the game for Flair.

The Sooners' last trip to Lubbock, potentially, could be cool, but not my choice either.

Future Big 12 member Houston is also coming to Lubbock next year and no coach screams 'professional wrestling' more than Dana Holgorsen, but that's not the game in my mind either.

The choice is obvious. It's the Texas Longhorns.

Saturday, September 24th, it will be a sold-out crowd at The Jones for what could be the Red Raiders and Longhorns' final meeting as conference foes. The atmosphere will be electric with Quinn Ewers and Texas coming to Lubbock under year one of the McGuire Era.

So to Texas Tech and Davis Smith, let's make it happen. Ric Flair enjoyed beating Texas in Lubbock once before, maybe he can be a good luck charm and help the team pull it off again in 2022 in what would be a signature win for new head coach Joey McGuire and Texas Tech.
