Wes Welker spent time with Bill O'Brien as a player in New England. They're getting back together, but this time as a member of his staff. O'Brien was Welker's offensive coordinator in 2011 after being on the Patriots staff since 2007.

The Houston Texans have announced that Welker was hired as an offensive/special teams assistant coach. Welker has never been a full-time coach, but was a guest coach for the Ravens and Dolphins in their organized team activities before this past season.

He's also got plenty of experience in the game. With his time at Texas Tech and his 12 years in the NFL, there's a wealth of knowledge he can share from his experience.

Welker was an undrafted wideout who retired in 2015 after a 12-year career, including spending six seasons in New England.

Welker will focus on either the receivers or the special teams after having his success as an inside receiver and return man. He also kicked a few extra points for the Dolphins from his time in Miami.
