Amarillo Radio Station Pulls Its Morning Show Off the Air in the Middle of a Charity Event
The worst thing someone can do is to pull the plug in the middle of a charity event. But that's exactly what one radio station in Amarillo, Texas did Monday morning.
KQFX - Wild 104.3, owned by Viva Media, pulled Wild 104.3 off the air and changed the format in the middle of a Salvation Army Sock Drive, an event that has benefited many different people in The Panhandle. The abrupt change happened while "The Hacker Morning Show" was on the air promoting the sock drive and caught the DJs by surprise.
Here's what Tommy Joe, host of The Hacker Morning Show, had to say:
What I don't get is, why pull the show and flip the station in the middle of something that could have benefited so many people? Tommy the Hacker is expecting donations to be severely affected by the station being pulled. But at the end of the day, he has a big heart, and I, for one, am glad to call him a friend. I'm glad that he's been so active in trying to help so many people in The Panhandle. We wish him nothing but the best in the future!
Full disclosure: Tommy the Hacker was the former host of The 5 O'Clock Bomboocha on 102.5 KISS FM Lubbock and 96.9 KISS FM Amarillo until March 2017.
