A Lubbock liquor store employee was held at gunpoint by a teenager. On Thursday, March 2, 2023, officers with the Lubbock Police Department were dispatched to a liquor store in the 4200 block of Avenue Q. At the scene police spoke with a victim, who was working at the store at the time of the incident, to get more information on what occurred.

The victim told Lubbock Police Officer's that two suspects had come into the liquor store when one of the men pulled out a handgun and pointed it at the store employee. KAMC news reports while the employee was being held at gunpoint by the gunman the other suspect was able to take money from the store along with some tobacco products that were sold on site as well.

Before the two suspects left the scene they hit that store employee in the face leaving them with a red mark that was visible when police arrived. The Lubbock Police Department was able to identify one of the suspects as 18-year-old Cody Thompson. Thompson was arrested on Friday, March 3, and charged with just one count of Robbery, there is currently no update as to the identity of the other suspect in this case.

As per the publishing of this article, Thompson is still being held in the Lubbock County Detention Center. In the state of Texas a basic Robbery charge is considered a second-degree felony and can become a first-degree felony if the charges become an Armed Robbery or Aggravated Robbery. Those first-degree Robbery charges, if convicted, can result in a sentence of up to 99 years in jail.
