There's new information on the deadly crash that occurred near Plainview Monday (June 10).

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the accident occurred four miles west of Plainview on US 70.

A 2004 Dodge Ram was reportedly traveling east on US 70 while pulling a black semi-trailer loaded with a Bobcat Tractor. Meanwhile, a 1999 Acura with three occupants was traveling west on US 70.

The semi-trailer suffered an unspecified mechanical failure, became detached from the truck, and drifted into oncoming traffic, crashing into the Acura.

The driver and front passenger of the Acura, 53-year-old Rosalva Dorantes and 60-year-old Eduardo Dorantes of Olton (respectively), were both severely injured and taken to University Medical Center in Lubbock, where they were pronounced dead.

The back passenger of the Acura, 18-year-old Mary Dorantes, suffered incapacitating injuries and was last reported in critical condition.

The driver of the Dodge Ram that was pulling the semi-trailer, identified as 61-year-old Joe Guerrero of Tulia, was not directly involved in the accident.
