I'm telling you that I have had one nasty week kiddos. Not only did I get the flu, I also developed a Bronchial Pnumonia that I swear was going to be the end of me. After missing 3 days of work and spending the better part of the past 90 hours miserable I thought I would share some of what will help you get some rest and relief while battleing thru the Flu.

I rarely get sick. I struggle with migrain headaches but other than that I hardly ever get down-and-out with a cold or flu bug. I guess that you could call me lucky, until now.

1) Soups: No way! Try just a simple cup or two of broth, maybe add little soy sauce or a bullion cube for flavor is all you need. So many chicken noodle and tomato soups are loaded with salt and sodium that will add to your dehydration.

2) Hot Water STAT: Use all the hot water in the house! On those restlless nights it was nothing for me to get up twice a night and soak in a very hot shower. I found some shower vapor cubes that you throw in with you and they are heavenly. The hot steam and vapors from that cube will really open you up and relax you. I found several different brands, I'm sure they all work fine.

3) Cough Cough Cough: When the meds do not work and the syrups have let you down and that cough has your abs aching and body sore. Lock yourself in the bathroom, max out the hot shower and let the steam break up that crud in your lungs and make those coughs produtive. The sooner you start coughing up that nasty crud in your lungs, the sooner you will stop coughing.

4) No Alcohol: Not even a glass of wine to relax or a homemade Hot-Tottie (whiskey and honey heated). The number one enemy of antibiotics is alcohol.

5) Water and Fresh Fuit: Forget the energy drinks and stick with good old fashioned H2O. Your body needs water so give it what it needs. I actually went thru 2 gallons a day and ate between 4-8 oranges. Even when nothing sounds good to eat, a sweet juicy orange will hit the spot.

6) Take Your Time: Don't get in a hury to get back to work. The Flu takes about 5 days to run it's course so hunker down and get ready. Don't worry your work and responsibilities will be waiting on you when you get better. Honestly, if your not healthy your no good to yourself or your Boss. Take your time, maybe do a half-day and make sure it's over before you go back into full blown mode.

There you go guys. Just some of the things that made my time under the weather just a littlle bit better.
