“The Sound of Music” Starring Carrie Underwood? [VIDEO]

NBC has decided to do a remake of the classic "The Sound of Music" casting Carrie Underwood in the role of the nun/nanny "Maria". The original part was played by Julie Andrews in the movie version of the musical back in 1965.

All that is known at this point is that the 3 hour special will air on NBC sometime next year and will be based on the Broadway version not the movie version. Carrie has a little history with this music as she performed the title theme song during CBS' "Movies Rock" special in 2007.
