This huge annual event is confirmed to take place this year.

The 2020 TRC Lubbock Chamber of Commerce Golf Classic is set for Monday, July 20th at the stunning Rawls Course, 3720 4th Street, at Texas Tech University.

I spoke to the event organizers on the phone and they said they'll be practicing social distancing and that face masks will be required.

There will be an a.m. and p.m. flight, and you can sign up as a team or a single for this popular fundraising event. In addition to signing up your business, sponsorships are available. Breakfast and lunch will be served, and prizes will be awarded. It's exciting to see that sponsorships have filled up quickly, but it's not too late to participate.

You can follow this link for more information about sponsorships and to sign up. The fee is $725 per team. Your entry fees include green fee, cart, breakfast, lunch and more.

Breakfast is sponsored by Chick-fil-A, lunch is sponsored by Community National Bank, the driving range is sponsored by Alderson Auto Group, and the sponsorship list goes on.

Now, I'd love to take a minute to talk about the incredible Rawls Course. Just looking at pictures and reading up on it on their site has inspired me to get out for some golf and for this golf classic event.

Here's what they share on their site:

... a West Texas masterpiece designed by renowned architect Tom Doak. The course was created for Texas Tech University and was designed by taking a flat cotton field on the high plains of the West Texas panhandle and creating an entire landscape from scratch. Doak moved 1.3 million cubic yards of topsoil and shaped the earth to mimic the land east and south of Lubbock where the great plain suddenly starts falling into the valleys and canyons that lead to the Caprock region. The Rawls Course offers wide fairways and boldly contoured greens and is playable for golfers of all skill levels. The Rawls Course is one of the best courses you can play in the State of Texas and one of the best Campus Courses in the Country and provides an unparalleled experience for all to enjoy.

Let's support our Lubbock community and make plans for this wonderful event. As much isolation as we've all experienced lately, an opportunity to network with the community, safely, outdoors is certainly a terrific idea. Even taking all the necessary precautions we can get out for a terrific, team building, community supportive day.
