The Dallas Mavericks and owner Mark Cuban have retired the number 24 in light of the recent tragedy of Kobe Bryant's shocking death this weekend. The Mavericks released a statement on Sunday afternoon after the news was confirmed saying, "Kobe’s legacy transcends basketball, and our organization has decided that the number 24 will never again be worn by a Dallas Maverick."
Mark Cuban had a great respect for Bryant as an ambassador for the game, an icon and as a dedicated father.
No other Dallas Maverick will wear the number 24.
