Texas Tech Wide Receiver Caden Leggett Arrested for Street Racing
The Red Raider offseason has been relatively quiet amid the coronavirus pandemic, with most of the athletes at home for the spring and summer more so than a normal offseason. As players return to Lubbock, so does the news.
Texas Tech football's Caden Leggett was arrested and charged with a class B misdemeanor on Saturday (June 27th) for street racing. Leggett posted a bond while his case is pending.
According to a police report obtained by everythinglubbock.com, an Lubbock Police Department officer observed three vehicles traveling at a high rate of speed in the 10000 block of Indiana Avenue. The officer said due to the situation, he could easily determine that the vehicles were competing.
Leggett was pulled over in a Mustang, while the other two vehicles did not stop. The other two drivers will be charged when they are located.
After the news broke of the arrest Texas Tech released this statement, "Texas Tech Athletics is aware of an incident involving members of its football program from this past weekend. At this time, Texas Tech continues to gather facts regarding the situation and will handle the matter in accordance with the Student-Athlete Code of Conduct process."
