The Texas Tech University System will be receiving almost $300 million in state funding for infrastructure improvements.

The main Texas Tech campus will receive $72 million dollars. The Health Sciences Center in Lubbock and the Health Sciences Center in El Paso will both receive $59.9 million.

Angelo State University will receive $36 million, Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls will receive $44.9 million, and the Texas Tech campus in Junction will receive $8 million.

This additional funding is coming from state Tuition Revenue Bonds (TRB).


The Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center announced the expansion of their Bachelor of Science in Nursing program to the Amarillo campus.

This is expected to get more qualified nurses for the Amarillo area and beyond.

In related news, Valerie Kiper has been named the regional dean for the school of nursing in Amarillo. Kiper has four decades of experience in nursing, and also currently serves as an associate professor of nursing at the TTU Health Sciences Center.
