Texas Tech Student Named Goldwater Scholar

On April 7, Texas Tech student Hattie Schunk was one of 252 U.S. students selected for a Goldwater Scholarship.

The Goldwater Scholarship is an award designed to encourage students to explore research careers in science, engineering and math.

Schunk is a chemical engineering major working towards a doctorate in bio-engineering and plans to research improving medical procedures, diagnostic capabilities, target therapies and medical devices in order to improve quality of life.

In addition, Schunk is a member of the Honors College and a former Tech soccer player now participating in track and field and cross country programs at Texas Tech.
