Texas Tech Beats UT Arlington With Neslony Grand Slam

Tyler Neslony lived up to the bright lights of the big league park blasting a grand slam in the 2nd inning to lead Texas Tech to a 6-4 win over UT Arlington at Globe Life Park, the home of the Texas Rangers.

The win moves Texas Tech to 10-6 on the season and to 3-1 in midweek games. All 6 of the Red Raider runs came in the 2nd inning. Before the grand slam, Kholeton Sanchez took a bases loaded walk before Stephen Smith hit a sac fly. After those 2 runs Neslony provided the fireworks with the grand slam to put the Red Raiders up for good.

Along with Neslony, Tanner Gardner led the Red Raiders at the plate, finishing 2-for-2 overall with two walks. He has now reached base in eight-consecutive plate appearances, marking the longest streak since Jake Barrios compiled a similar streak from March 16-18, 2013.

The UT Arlington Mavericks put up some runs in a feeble comeback attempt but couldn't summit the mountain provided in the 2nd inning.

Ty Damron and Ryan Moseley, now 2-1, both pitched in the contest before Robert Dugger retired the final 6 Mavericks in order over the final 2 innings. It was Dugger's 2nd save on the season.

After Michalski gave up 6 runs the UTA bullpen consisting of Dylan Schneider, Jacob Moreland and Daniel James proceeded to toss 7.1 shutout innings of relief with just two hits allowed.
