Texas Tech Basketball Beats Oklahoma, Stays Undefeated at Home
Let's get one thing straight. Texas Tech basketball is really good anywhere, but they're an elite team at home.
The good news is that pretty much anywhere Texas Tech plays, Red Raider fans make sure they're well represented. It felt like Texas Tech was playing a home game when they beat Texas in Austin this weekend. It was the same in Waco earlier this year when they took down top-ranked Baylor on the road. And it'll be the same this Saturday against TCU in Fort Worth.
As much as the team benefits from the Road Raiders, the United Supermarkets Arena is on an entirely different level. The Red Raiders are now 17-0 at home this year after beating Oklahoma 66-42 Tuesday night at the United Supermarkets Arena.
That's right, the Red Raiders only gave up 42 points to a Big 12 opponent and only after a garbage time three-pointer at the end of the game. Texas Tech outscored Oklahoma 37-20 in the second half.
Davion Warren scored a game-high 16 points while Bryson Williams scored 13 -- the only two players in double-figures.
Not a single Oklahoma Sooner got to double-digits; the Red Raiders defense made it nearly impossible for them to score in the paint. After the game, OU Head Coach Porter Moser was nearly at a loss for words when asked about playing against the Texas Tech defense.
The Big 12 race is down to three teams. Kansas has the lead, but Texas Tech and Baylor still have a chance to get a share of the Big 12 title. In fact, if the Red Raiders win out against TCU, Oklahoma State and Kansas State, they'll have their best Big 12 record since they won the conference in a shared run with Kansas State on their way to a National Championship appearance.
Beyond the conference race, the Red Raiders are looking like a lock to land a 2-seed in the NCAA Tournament. But that's only if they can finish off their conference opponents.
They'll also have one more chance to play at the United Supermarkets Arena where they can finish undefeated for the first time in the arena's history.
