Texas Ranks in Top 3 Worst States for Female Equality
Wallethub.com ran the numbers on several metrics to determine where each state ranks in terms of gender equality. And Texas fell right on its face, coming in at no. 48, beating out only Idaho and Utah.
So why did Texas perform so poorly? In workplace-related categories, like wage gaps, unemployment numbers, etc., Texas ranked no. 37. Texas ranked no. 45 in access to health and education services. Texas also has a pathetic number of health insured persons compared to the rest of the country, and a huge gap in rural health care providers. And coming in at no. 47 for political representation is... you guessed it: Texas. Basically, we did terrible at everything.
How can we be better? Elect and promote more women into positions of power, either in the board room or the Capitol building, for starters.
