Taylor Swift Gets Revenge With 2012 Best Country Song + Solo Performance Grammy Wins
Taylor Swift won two Grammy Awards this afternoon for ‘Mean,’ a song she wrote about someone who didn’t treat her right. And if you’re wondering whether the young singer still carries a chip on her shoulder, check out what she said during her acceptance speeches.
“This is fantastic,” Swift said after capturing Best Country Solo Performance. “It’s always gonna mean the world to me, the idea of getting to go to the Grammys and the idea of getting to possibly have a chance at winning a Grammy, but this one means a lot to me. There’s really no feeling like writing a song about someone who completely hates you and makes your life miserable, and then winning a Grammy for it. Thank you!”
Minutes later, ‘Mean’ also claimed Best Country Song, an award given to the songwriter. Swift thanked her parents, her band for dressing up in vintage outfits for the music video, and even everyone in the audience who clapped when her name was called. “This is unbelievable. I am so happy right now! Thank you to all the Grammy voters.”
The Grammys were the 5th and 6th of of Swift’s career. She dominated the ceremony in 2010 by winning four awards, including Album of the Year. She has a chance to add one more award to her collection later tonight during the televised portion of the ceremony, when her record ‘Speak Now’ competes for Best Country Album.
