School is back in session and it's time to get rid of some of the clutter by saving space. A lot of students won't have a lot of space to work with, so saving space is an important craft and valuable asset for your college life.

Here are some helpful tips and tricks that could help you save space in your apartment, house or townhome. Don't forget, a cluttered home is the sign of a cluttered mind.

Store under the bed: Utilizing this space allows you to save room in closets and cabinets. You can also find room under couches and chairs!

Shelves: If you don’t have any bookshelves in your place, try adding some free floating shelves that attach right to wall. These can add storage for all kinds of objects and serve as décor as well! Add a shelf above a door way for optimal space saving!

Practical Furniture: Furniture in a smaller space doesn’t always have to be small! Larger furniture that is multifunctional is always useful. Although it may be large, if it has storage, it is worth it! For example, an ottoman or solid coffee table with storage inside!

Go Digital: Bills, files, and even books can take up space! Store your necessary files on your PC and keep your books in a kindle instead of on a bookshelf! You just saved a junk drawer and shelf space!

When in Doubt – Purge: Get rid of any unused items by evaluating what you have and haven’t used in the last 6 months! If it is too sentimental, consider storing it at your parents house instead of keeping it with you, it may be safer there anyway!

If your apartment is too small try upgrading to a cottage style community!
