Southwest Airlines is not living up to the expectations of 'flying the friendly skies' as a Texas mom claims a gate agent made fun of her daughter’s unique name.

According to ABC 7 Chicago, the mom said the agent poked fun at her name on social media and posted a picture of her boarding pass for others to join in.

The 5-year-old’s name is Abcde Redford.  Yep, you read that correct her name is pronounced “Ab-city.”

Abcde and her mom Tracy were returning to El Paso, Texas from John Wayne Airport when they were boarding first because Abcde has epilepsy when the ticket agent made her remarks.

While I was sitting there, she took a picture of my boarding pass and chose to post it on social media, mocking my daughter. It was actually brought to my attention by somebody who had seen it on Facebook and reported it to Southwest Airlines. After two weeks of doing a formal complaint Southwest hadn't done anything.

Southwest released a statement apologizing for the treatment of Abcde,

We extend our sincere apology to the family. We take great pride in extending our Southwest Hospitality to all of our Customers, which includes living by the Golden Rule and treating every individual with respect, in person or online. The post is not indicative of the care, respect, and civility we expect from all of our Employees.

Southwest doesn't talk about personal actions publicly, but they did follow up with the agent.

Traci said she will use this experience as a teaching moment.
