Sorry Lubbock, Keep Dreaming Of A White Christmas

For those in Lubbock on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, it will be t-shirt weather instead of sweaters and coats.

This time of year and especially on Christmas Day, most people want to see a little snow in the forecast and hope to see snow when they wake up on Christmas morning. But for Lubbock and the entire State of Texas, a white Christmas doesn't look like it's going to happen.

The National Weather Service Lubbock Twitter account sent out a tweet over the weekend showing the historic probability of at least one inch of snow on Christmas. Apparently, a dusting doesn't count as a white Christmas. Historically, Lubbock has about a 5% chance of having a white Christmas, which is better than Houston but not as good of a chance as say, Colorado or even Kansas.

As for this week's Christmas forecast? KAMC is reporting that high's will be in the mid-70's on Christmas morning. Which, to be honest, is pretty nice. Sure, it may not feel like Christmas outside, but at least we won't have to deal with the Marsha Sharp Freeway flyover being shutdown or having the Loop closed after hundreds of accidents.

This past weekend we may have gotten a taste of Winter, but don't expect it to last. The first official day of Winter is on Tuesday, but it won't feel like Winter anytime soon as high temperatures this week will be in the 70's and possibly mid to upper 70's on Friday. The following week it's supposed to be a little cooler, but more Fall like than Winter.

And while Lubbock won't see a white Christmas, it does mean good weather and road conditions in and around the region for those who will be traveling for Christmas.
