Its every kids dream for waking on a winter morning, the snow day! Well kids, your dream has come true today.

Yes Snowmageddon 2013 has become a reality. And while this amount of snow fall would actually be just another day in the majority of the country, officials here in Lubbock know just how bad Lubbock drivers are and erred on the side of "I don't want some idiot crashing my car this morning". So school is cancelled!

Here's the school closing report from our sister station, KFYO.com.

"The forecasts of a driving blizzard proved to be accurate this morning. The snow accumulations at KFYO are approximately an inch as of 5:40 this morning.

Lubbock International Airport was shutdown before 6 a.m. due to the snow and forecasted snow.

Travel on Interstate 27 between Amarillo and Lubbock is heavily discouraged by TxDOT on Monday as conditions have worsened the past two hours.

City of Lubbock government offices and Lubbock County offices are closed except essential personnel.

Texas Tech University, Texas Tech Health Sciences Center, Lubbock Christian University, South Plains College, and Wayland Baptist University.

Classes at area school districts and colleges cancelled classes for today  due to overnight snow accumulations.
