Update #2: Isaias Rodriguez, the victim of the shooting Wednesday morning on Amherst St., has passed away according to the Lubbock Police Department.

The suspect, Daniel Rangel, was charged earlier in the day with aggravated assault. Lubbock Police Department Public Information Officer Tiffany Pelt says it's expected those charges will now be upgraded.

Update: The Lubbock Police Department has released the name of the suspect arrested for a shooting Wednesday morning, along with the victim's name.

According to the LPD, 19-year-old Daniel Rangel was arrested Wednesday afternoon for aggravated assault. He's accused of shooting and wounding 34-year-old Isaias Rodriguez.

Rodriguez was found lying in the street with a gunshot wound, police said. He was transported to University Medical Center.

Police say Rangel was one of two people located after the shooting and held for questioning. The second person was released.

According to the police, an ongoing dispute involving the two men may have led to the shooting. LPD Persons Crime Unit detectives are currently investigating the case.

Rodriguez is reportedly listed in serious condition with life-threatening injuries.


Original story: Wednesday morning (Nov. 29), Lubbock police officers were called for reports of a shooting.

Police responded to the 2500 block of Amherst Street around 11 a.m. where a gunshot victim was found. The victim was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries.

Police have two suspects in custody.

The names of the suspects and victim have not been released at this time.
