Several South Plains Law Enforcement Agencies Searching for Suspect
Several disturbance calls in Hockley County on Thursday, December 9th, led to a standoff and ended with the suspect on the run.
At around 2:45 a.m., Hockley County Sheriff's deputies responded to a home in the 6800 block of Bearcat Road. Authorities learned that a man, identified as 34 year-old Matthew Neal Smith, allegedly threatened the family in the residence and left.
Several Lubbock and Hockley County law enforcement agencies as well as the Texas Department of Public Safety assisted in the search to find Smith, but as of this time he has not been located.
During the search, authorities learned Smith was wanted for a parole violation and that he has a history of evading and resisting arrest.
Smith is described as a white male, 5' feet 11" inches, weighing around 200 pounds, and has brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing blue jeans, a green jacket with fur around the hood, and a knit beanie. Smith may also have access to a green and white Honda dirt bike.
