A New Mexico woman has a fight on her hands. Kerri Mascareno, of Albuquerque, New Mexico who is in a life or death battle with Breast Cancer, has been told by her daughter’s elementary school that she cannot go inside the building because she smells. The "smell" he is referencing is caused by medication.

Principal Robert Abney at Tierra Antigua Elementary School told Kerri that he sympathises with her as his Mother died of Breast Cancer and she had the same exact smell but his employees at the school were becoming ill because of the odor.

Even after she maintained her distance, Mascareno claims Abney kept on her.

“He just said that he would have to ask me to sit in my car because he could smell me through the widow,” Mascareno said.

Abney wouldn’t comment or apologize about the matter, instead directing questions to the school district.

As if this isn’t enough of an emotional trauma for her, Mascareno says Abney told her she can go to the school’s upcoming Thanksgiving dinner if she and her daughter agreed to sit in his office.

The school may finally relent from its policy, however. Mascareno says she recently received a call from Abney saying she and her daughter would be allowed to enjoy the Thanksgiving dinner in the cafeteria with everyone else.
