America: Land of the Free and Home of the Brave, right? On Friday, peaceful Occupy protesters had a stand-off with campus police at the University of California-Davis (outside Sacramento).  They'd been warned to leave the area, but about 50 protesters sat down in a circle and stayed.

Once students peacefully demanded the release of the arrested, a police officer unnecessarily pepper sprays the students to open a path for the rest of the officers.
The officer who sprayed the students was UC Davis Police Lt. John Pike.
He and another cop have now been put on administrative leave. Check it out:

After the video hit YouTube, the school's chancellor, Linda Katehi, held a press conference. But she didn't let students into it, so they protested outside the building. And Katehi was so intimidated, she didn't leave for three hours. There were still hundreds of protesters outside when she finally did. But they stayed completely silent while she walked to her car.

Wow did I just flash back 50 years?
