Michael Pinkerton, the man who admitted to robbing former Texas Tech football player Patrick Mahomes, has accepted a plea agreement.

Pinkerton was facing three counts of robbery, but accepted a plea deal of 12 years on each charge to run concurrently. The trial was set to begin on October 16th according to KLTV in Tyler.

Pinkerton has a lengthy criminal record and committed the robbery in May, but did not know who he was robbing.

"He had no idea," Smith County Sheriff's Department spokesperson Sgt. Darrell Coslin said (quote via KLTV). "It was just a random act with a random target."

Under current Texas law, Pinkerton will have to serve at least six years before becoming eligible for parole.
