Plainview Designated a Film-Friendly Texas City

Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced on Thursday that the City of Plainview has been designated as a Film Friendly Texas community by the Texas Film Commission.

In order to obtain the Film Friendly Texas designation, leaders in Plainview had to complete a multi-step training and certification process. With the designation, Plainview joins over 160 cities in Texas that are designated as Film Friendly Texas communities. The cities receive continued training and information from the Texas Film Commission about media industry standards, best practices, and how to accommodate filming in their community.

Governor Abbott said via press release that the designation could lead to job opportunities in Plainview:

"I congratulate the City of Plainview on earning the Film Friendly Texas designation and joining more than 160 other Texas communities who have received this recognition," said Governor Abbott. "The Lone Star State is brimming with promise, and I look forward to continuing to work alongside all of our communities to ensure they have the knowledge and tools needed to succeed. Through the Film Friendly Texas training and certification process, communities large and small are readied to help match local businesses with production-related needs, creating jobs for Texas-based crew members and local residents, as well as spurring on-site spending at local small businesses. I am proud of all the Texas Film Commission has accomplished in helping communities like Plainview market their unique appeal and support local job creation through media production."

Who knows what type of films we could see being shot in Plainview. I'm thinking a Western of some type could be shot there. Westerns seem to be making a comeback at least on TV and streaming.

Texas is booming, and as more people move here, they'll be looking at areas like Austin or Houston to settle down. There are plenty of others places they ought to consider, though.
