Pink Opens Up About Suffering ‘Several’ Miscarriages
Pink revealed she's suffered multiple miscarriages throughout her life.
During a recent interview with USA Today, the singer was asked about her new song "Happy" and what the heartwrenching lyrics mean. On the track, she sings, "Since I was 17, I've always hated my body / and it feels like my body's hated me."
Pink candidly admitted the lines had to do with having a miscarriage as a teenager. "The reason I said [that] is because I've always had this very tomboy, very strong gymnast body, but actually at 17 I had a miscarriage," she explained. "And I was going to have that child."
She continued, "But when that happens to a woman or a young girl, you feel like your body hates you and like your body is broken, and it's not doing what it's supposed to do."
"I've had several miscarriages since, so I think it's important to talk about what you're ashamed of, who you really are and the painful s--t. I’ve always written that way,” Pink added.
The pop star now shares two beautiful children—Willow Sage Hart, 7, and Jameson Moon Hart, 2—with husband Carey Hart.
Elsewhere in the interview, she opened about how therapy helped her relationship, which has gone through a lot of ups and downs. She said, "I believe in self-confrontation and just getting things out. What I love about therapy is that they'll tell you what your blind spots are. Although that's uncomfortable and painful, it gives you something to work with."
The couple has been together for 17 years.
