A Second Pie Bar Is Opening to Satisfy Lubbock’s Sweet Tooth
Just in time for summer, Lubbock favorite Pie Bar Dessert Bistro is expanding and opening a second location in an important part of the city.
Once upon a time I was driving east on 50th street from Indiana and noticed a giant moose on the side of a building with the word "pie." So naturally, my kids and I pulled in to find one of the best things to come to Lubbock since pie was invented... whenever that was. The point is, we became insta-addicts for the fluffy, yummy-for-a-tummy ingredients that go into making Pie Bar one of our favorites.
They have since moved from the original 50th Street location, on to bigger and better retail space. Now, they are adding another spot to fill your gut with the most amazing sweets in town.
We spoke via Facebook to Pie Bar Dessert Bistro owner Carson McCabe, who revealed where the second shop will be located, and more importantly, when it should be open.
McCabe said they'll be renovating a space closer to their previous shop in the Kingsgate Shopping Center. The second Pie Bar will move into the space occupied by Urban Dessert Works, located near the old Hastings at 8209 Slide Road. That shop is set to close on May 20th, 2019.
The renovation should be quick; McCabe told us he's hoping to open the new Pie Bar in July.
The decision to expand was easy. The current location on Milwaukee Avenue is doing well, and, according to McCabe, there have been several requests for the business to return to South Central Lubbock.
The sweet shop, which prides itself in baked-from-scratch goodies, is planning an expanded menu, McCabe said.
Judging from what Pie Bar already offers, like their mega-popular Piebite and cheesecake, we're guessing plenty of folks will be happy to have the sweet shop back in their side of town. Bonus: The new location is right down the street from our radio station. We know where we'll be when we're craving something sweet.
Welcome (back) to the neighborhood, Pie Bar.
