Even after only one visit (so far), I can't help but feel like Pheasant Ridge Winery is my special secret place- a clubhouse in the middle of a field in New Deal, Texas. When Boleo, our friends and I went last month for their Gluhwein event, we had an absolute blast. We spent an lazy afternoon drinking fabulous wines in the sunshine, laughing hysterically and meeting new friends. It's a comfortable, intimate, accessible and fun place to be.

This upcoming Sunday (1/15) Pheasant Ridge is hosting another great afternoon with "Cowboys, Wine & Sausage' as per their Facebook event page:

Texas wine, Texas sausage, & America's team! Come out and watch two rookies and the best O-line in the NFL make a run for the big game!

Skip the crowds & smokey bars in town and watch the game with us! We'll be watching the Dallas Cowboys first playoff game! Multiple TV's, smoke-free inside!

Winemaker Bobby Cox will be smoking Raider Meats sausages on grapevine wood. Free while we got 'em!

Reds $5 a glass, whites $4 a glass, or buy a bottle and share with friends!

Game starts at 3:40pm, we open at 12.

When you consider the quality and the craftsman ship of Pheasant Ridge wines, the price per glass is an absolute steal (but really, if you plan on having 3 glasses, buy the bottle). I recommend 3 Barrels Up, a delicious, sweet white with tropical notes.

Of course, any time they are open is a good time to go, especially since the tasting flight is very reasonably priced. Bobby Cox is not only an incredible winemaker, but a really nice guy. In fact, everyone out there is a friend you just haven't met yet.
