Person of Interest in May 9th Shooting Turns Self In to Irving Police
20-year-old Leo Ramon Contreras was listed as a person-of-interest in the shooting death of 69-year-old Willard Justice Jr. in Lubbock, but he hasn't been charged for Justice's death.
Back on Sunday, May 9th, Lubbock Police responded to the 2800 block of North Quaker Avenue a bit before midnight for reports of shots fired. Police arrived on scene and found that multiple homes suffered damage from gunshots.
At the time, 3 homes were found to have been damaged by the gunfire, but no one was observed to have been injured.
However, a day later on Monday, May 10th, Lubbock Police received a call for a welfare check on Willard Justice Jr. It turns out that Justice's home was also struck by the gunfire, even though it wasn't initially observed to be when officers first investigated the scene the night before. Justice was found dead in his home.
KAMC News reports that Contreras had turned himself into Irving Police and was charged with evading police, but he hasn't been charged in Justice's death, prompting the community outreach.
