Odessa Man Leads Police on Chase Driving an Ice Cream Truck

Ector County Sheriff's Department were called to a disturbance over the weekend when a man tried to make an escape in an ice cream truck.

According to CBS NEWS 7, 50-year-old Jack French sped away in a white ice cream van when police arrived.

The report says deputies managed to catch up with the van. The driver then left the roadway and cut through a couple parking lots before finally driving through a fence.

Then, he jumped out of the van and took off on foot where deputies caught him after a brief chase. French was arrested and charged with Evading Arrest.

Perhaps it was the hot weather that prompted him to steal the truck in the first place?
