Although No Doubt hasn’t released a studio album since 2001′s ‘Rock Steady,’ the group hasn’t exactly been resting on their laurels. Singer Gwen Stefani has gotten hitched, had children, and released two wildly successful solo albums. Meanwhile, bassist Tony Kanal produced P!nk’s single, ‘Sober,’ drummer Adrian Young performed with Maroon 5 and Scott Weiland, and guitarist Tom Dumont produced Matt Costa’s debut album.

Now, however, the group is a mere two months away from finishing their sixth album. They recently previewed several songs for Rolling Stone and it seems their trademark Ska/reggae sound is intact, albeit with a few updates.

The group started work on the new album in 2008 and has reportedly been polishing each song to perfection. According to Stefani, recording again with her old bandmates felt right, especially after her experience as a solo artist. “I had gone on my tortured journey of working with outside songwriters,” she said. “I would throw up if someone made me do that again.”
