White and Silver Are the Most Popular Car Colors in the World — Survey of the Day
According to the DuPont Automotive Color Popularity Report, which has been tracking worldwide trends in car colors for 59 years, white and silver tied for the most popular car colors on the planet in 2011, each grabbing 22 percent of the market share.
Black, which had been the most popular color in 2010, fell to third, followed by grey (13 percent), red (seven percent), blue (six percent) and beige (five percent).
The emergence of the lighter colors has to do with growth in the Asian market, where white and silver shades are particularly popular. In North America, the top three colors of 2011 were white, black and then silver. Black remains the most popular car color in Europe.
