Monterey High School Removed From the 2016 UIL Baseball Playoffs
Monterey High School will no longer be competing in this year's UIL Baseball Playoffs after it was discovered that one of its players had played in too many UIL games.
According to Lubbock ISD Director of Public Information Nancy Sharp: "A freshman student had played in one more than the allotted number of UIL games allowed for a student playing in both varsity and sub-varsity sports."
This error was sent to the District Executive Committee (DEC), Sharp explained. The DEC than decided that Monterey High School's final game of the 2016 season against Tascosa would be forfeited, due to the violation.
Amarillo Tascosa will take Monterey High School's place in the baseball playoffs. The schedule of games between Tascosa and El Paso Americas will be announced later this week.
