If there is one thing that sums up the holidays for me it is that smell that permeates the air at my Mom and Dads. Not the food or the candy mom always has going. But the little pot on the back of the stove that she has simmering 24/7. "What is it?" I had to ask just so I could share it with you.

Spicy Holiday Stovetop Potpourri

  • Ingredients:
  • 1 Fresh Orange (sliced)
  • 1 Fresh Lemon (sliced)
  • 4 Cinnamon Sticks (broken up)
  • 3 Tablespoons of Whole Cloves
  • 2 Tablespoon of Whole All Spice
  • 1 Tablespoon of Ground Nutmeg
  • 1 Tablespoon of Ground Cinnamon
  • 4 Cups of Water

Mix all  your ingredients in a saucepan and heat on the stovetop until it reaches a rolling boil. Reduce to simmer and keep an eye on the water level; if it gets low – add more water and ingredients.

Now if you are in need of a small holiday gift then you can always place all of the dry ingredients in a small fruit jar or spice bag and include the instructions. There you go a small Christmas present I promise you that will be an original.
