Ludacris is playing a show at the U.S. Navy base at Guantanamo Bay. The hip-hop star will perform for the 6,000 people who live on the base which also houses dozens of war-on terror detainees.

As part of the "Freedom Festival," an annual event at Guantanamo's WIndward Ferry Landing, Luda will play a free show for the troops, Department of Defense contractors and Navy families. According to the Miami Herald, the facility is miles away from the locked-down detention center zone that houses prisoners.

Guantanamo is a 45-square-mile base that’s separated from the rest of the island of Cuba by a minefield. So yeah--gonna be pretty hard to crash this show, if you were thinking about it..

"Every year we get a special guest around the Fourth of July, but Gitmo hasn’t seen a star with as big a name as Ludacris in several years," Navy Chief Monique Hilley told the paper. "The base is really looking forward to it."

Rock bands like Jimmy Eat World and Plain White T's have previously played the Landing.

Luda is also filming Fast & Furious 8, which producers cited as the "first Hollywood studio movie to film on the island post-embargo" in regards to Cuba. As for Luda, this isn't his first time performing for the troops.

He played Fort Meade in Maryland in 2010 and performed at welcome home event for soldiers returning from Iraq Fort Hood in Texas in 2004.
