Man, this particular closure story is a textbook definition of bittersweet.

Lubbock's The Mud Room (3302 82nd St) has announced it will temporarily close its doors. The announcement was made on their Facebook page:

It is with a heavy heart we are having to make this post but due to the strain placed on us from covid and some very unexpected circumstances surrounding our lease agreement we are having to close our doors at our current location by the end of this month. We truly feel deep down in our hearts that this is not the end of our story with the Mud Room being part of the Lubbock community. We are actively brainstorming ways to bring the Mudroom back as soon as we can. The last day to paint with us at our current location will be September 19th...

We hate to lose a neighbor (we can actually see this store from our studios), but hopefully the Mud Room will be able to make its return in a new location soon. To expedite that process, the owner's daughter announced that she would be offering discounted professional photography services to help open her mom's business back up.

Again, from Facebook:

Good morning, everyone! This is Katy Harris, Pam's daughter and I own Live Simply Photography. I've been trying to brainstorm ways to help my mom and her business during this time and I've decided to use my business to help with this. I will be offering heavily discounted mini sessions and all the profits will be donated to The Mud Room. These will be $200+tax and will be this Sunday. If you can't make it this Sunday but have availability in September we can arrange a different day.

Here's wishing the best of luck for these two ladies. I think it's wonderfully sweet that this daughter loves her momma so much. I feel the same way about my mom, so this had me misty-eyed for sure.
