The Oddities Market, a pop-up market place for all things weird and wonderful, returns to celebrate its 1-year anniversary on Saturday, September 24th at 408 Ave. J. It will feature over 30 vendors with handmade items for sale. There will also be food trucks and a fire dance performance.

In addition to having many amazing artists and artisans as vendors, this Oddities Market also has a focus on helping area animals. In lieu of having live animal adoptions, the Oddities Market will have an "Adopt a Familiar" drive.

Organizer and Founder of the Oddities' Market Sam Gaitan explained it to me:

The Adopt a Familiar drive for South Plains SPCA [...] won't have actual animals there, they'll have small animal plushes people can buy to adopt that will help fund the rescue and it comes with a special adoption certificate. If they take it by Thistle & Rabbler's booth, they'll get a free Oddities pet bandana. We'll also have a drop bin for donated items for them and have a list of items they are needing like cat little and food and cleaning supplies.

I went to the inaugural Oddities Market a year ago and had a fantastic time. There's so many talented and unique vendors in this area. This is a fantastic opportunity to start some early Christmas shopping for those of us who would really rather have a second Halloween. If you're the kind of person who likes to show off your spooky style, this is a great opportunity to do just that.

Remember, Spooky Season comes but once a year, and the Oddities Market will be a hub of that particular brand of Autumn-time magic. For more information, head over to the Facebook event page.
