Lubbock Women’s Protective Services to Hold Candlelight Vigil Wednesday, Oct. 15
Steven Garcia with Women's Protective Services of Lubbock stopped in the studio to talk about the group's candlelight vigil Wednesday night (Oct. 15).
"It's just a way of honoring those that have fallen due to domestic violence," said Garcia. "We read off the names of those we've lost, and then we have a couple people speak. Tonight, we're going to have a few survivors talk about their experience and how they got out, and end it on an inspiring note."
Garcia stressed that domestic violence is an ongoing problem, and that his group wants to bring "awareness an education" to the people of Lubbock.
The vigil will take place at 6:30 p.m. at Lubbock's Courthouse Gazebo downtown and will honor the 119 people who lost their lives in Texas in 2013 due to domestic violence.
