Lubbock Woman Pleads Guilty to Improper Sexual Activity With Inmate
A Lubbock woman pleaded guilty on Friday to improper sexual activity with a prisoner in the Montford Unit.
KAMC News reports 29-year-old Cora Crane, a former employee at Texas Tech Health Sciences Center, has been sentenced to six years deferred adjudication. According to those terms, if Crane stays out of trouble and completes probation, she will spend no time in prison.
The incident occurred in May 2016.
The Texas Department of Criminal Justice Handbook says that sexual abuse (staff-on-offender) includes sexual acts performed without the consent of the offender. Since offenders cannot consent with non-offenders in a Texas prison unit, it's considered a civil rights violation.
