Lubbock Woman Admits to Improper Sexual Activity with Inmate
A Lubbock woman pleaded guilty on Friday to improper sexual activity with a prisoner in the Montford Unit.
KAMC News reports 29-year-old Cora Crane was an employee at Texas Tech, and has been sentenced to six years deferred adjudication, which means if she stays out of trouble and completes probation, she will spend no time in prison.
The Texas Department of Criminal Justice Handbook says that sexual abuse (staff-on-offender) includes sexual acts performed without the consent of the offender. Since offenders cannot consent with non-offenders in a Texas prison unit, it is considered a civil rights violation.
The offense date was listed in the indictment as May 13th of 2016.
