Lubbock Woman Accused of Injuring Child During Argument With Girlfriend
Thirty-three-year-old Jennifer Renee Barrera has been arrested after Lubbock police say she injured a child while arguing with her girlfriend.
Police were called to the 2500 block of 64th Street at around 10 p.m. on Friday, March 26th after Barrera got into an argument with her girlfriend. KAMC News reports that Barrera was accused of cheating, and that's what started the argument.
During the argument, Barrera, the girlfriend and the child, whose approximate age wasn't listed, were in a bathroom. It's alleged that the child's head was pushed under running water from the sink. Cell phone video was taken during the incident. While the audio indicated that's what happened, the video didn't explicitly show the child being put underneath the sink's running faucet.
Along with this, Barrera is said to have shaken the child violently, and she's even said to have struck them on the back, causing them to scream. The cell phone video audio also captures the child screaming, but just like the other incident, the video itself is not said to have captured this.
Barrera and the child, who was only wearing a diaper, were located at a park nearby where the call came from. While police didn't note any injuries on the child that could be seen at a glance, they were still transported to Covenant Women's and Children's.
Barrera was arrested and remains in the Lubbock County Detention Center on a $10,000 bond.
