Do you wanna build a snowman?

Sure...why not.

Snow is now expected to blanket Lubbock on Saturday night (January 9th, 2021), covering the area in a 5-foot thick coating of frozen terror.

Oops, sorry, I meant 5 inches of snow, not 5 freaking feet. That would be a whole new set of problems for the Hub City.

According to Ron Roberts, MBE, over at KAMC-TV, the latest models are projecting about 5 and 1/2 inches of snow to fall Saturday night, and mostly into Sunday.

The biggest question is how much the outlying areas will get, since Lubbock's models seem pretty consistent. However, remember earlier this week when we all thought we were probably only going to get a dusting or mainly all rain? Yeah, we've ramped things up. I mean, that really got out of hand fast.

So, now that we've upgraded from a Winter Wonderland to a Class 3 Killstorm, how are you going to prepare?

Ummm, you're not.

You see, here in the Glorious Republic of Texas, we're a little jaded by things like the weather. We can handle anything, and do it with a swelling of pride. We're just going to sit back on our porch, pour a glass of Bourbon, and laugh at anything Mother Nature throws at us while we wait by the phone to see if anyone is trying to reach us about our car's extended warranty.

Snow? Pish Posh! As long as we've got 4-wheel drive, we can handle anything.

See?

This driver...is not from Texas.

The best thing you can do, is only pick up things that you know you re running out of. And do it early, before the refugees from New Mexico flood over from the west and panic shop. That means only the essentials:

Milk, Shiner Bock, a brisket as big as your oldest child, some Raider Red's Meat Rub, and Topo Chico.

Lubbock, you've got this.

Stay Classy, stay safe, stay warm. And yes, I wanna build a snowman.
