Lubbock Police Name Suspect in Officer-Involved Shooting
Lubbock Police have served an arrest warrant for an individual connected to the officer involved shooting that occurred Monday afternoon.
The arrest warrant for aggravated assault on a peace officer was served for 34 year-old Shawn Boyett. Just before 4 p.m., police responded to a home in the 2000 block of 49th Street for reports of a domestic disturbance between a mother and her son, Shawn Boyett.
When officers arrived at the scene, the mother told police that she had been assaulted by Boyett and wanted him removed. Police then told Boyett to leave the house, and that's when he pulled out a knife and attempted to charge the officers. An officer fired at Boyett, striking him in the hip and thigh.
Boyett was taken to University Medical Center with serious injuries but remains in stable condition. He could face additional charges.
