At around 3:12 p.m. Wednesday afternoon, Lubbock Police sent out an emergency notification saying that all lanes of Indiana Avenue between 56th Street and 60th Street were shut down due to a gas leak.

KAMC News reports that an Atmos Energy leak survey specialist was driving in the area and picked up on the leak around 2 p.m.

Police say the closure is expected to last several hours, and as of 5:10 p.m. the roads were still closed.

No injuries have been reported.

LPD is asking the public to avoid the area.
