Lubbock Police Arrest Man for Vehicle Burglaries and Woman for Hindering Arrest
On Friday, October 16th, the Lubbock Police Department announced that they arrested 20-year-old Isaiah Anthony Lara, who was previously wanted for his involvement in multiple vehicle burglaries.
LPD said that Lubbock Police Officers, Crime Suppression and K9 Unit, along with the US Marshal's and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives arrested Lara at around 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 15th in the 110 block of 43rd Street.
Lara was arrested for 2 outstanding burglary of a building felony warrants.
In addition to Lara's arrest, police also apprehended 20-year-old Frances Garza, who was charged with hindering apprehension or prosecution of a felon.
Initially, police responded to the Hawthorne Suites at 4923 Marsha Sharp on Sunday, October 11th. They noted 3 suspects fleeing the parking lot on foot. At the time, they apprehended 18-year-old John Castillo, but the other two, later identified as Lara and 19-year-old Jamie Ray Cortez, got away.
The two apparently returned to the scene later with Garza, and police initiated a chase after recognizing them as the suspects that had fled earlier. Cortez was apprehended at this time.
Garza has been charged with burglary of a vehicle, theft, engaging in organized crime and a misdemeanor warrant. Cortez was charged with burglary of a vehicle, theft, evading arrest, escape and engaging in organized crime.
