A Lubbock man was arrested on Thursday, October 15th  for various charges, including evading arrest and possession of drug paraphernalia.

34-year-old Joshua Thomas Crockett was the passenger during a traffic stop, according to KAMC News. The traffic stop happened in the 2400 block of Avenue Q.

Back in 2014, Crockett was sentenced to 5 years in prison for failure to register as a sex offender. Before all of that, he was convicted of aggravated sexual assault of a child. The boy was 13-years-old.

Crockett was paroled in 2017.

Back in September of 2020, a warrant was issued for his arrest after he failed to pay fines, fees and court costs in the 2014 case.

Officers discovered that Crockett was a wanted man during the traffic stop. Officers asked him to step out of the vehicle, and attempted to put his hands behind his back.

It was then that Crockett took off running. It's said that during the foot chase, Crockett fell down on top of the officer. He then took off running again.

An officer then used a taser to stop him. The police report says that Crockett was laying on top of his right arm and refused to give it to police, so one of the officers punched him on the left side of the face.

After searching Crockett, officers located a glass pipe wrapped in a bandana.

Crockett remains in the Lubbock County Detention Center on bonds totaling over $22,000.
