A Lubbock man has pleaded guilty to attempted enticement of what he believed at the time was a 15-year-old boy.

KAMC News reports that at around May 4th of 2021, 37-year-old Pedro Duarte had initiated contact with what he believed to be the 15-year-old on an online messaging platform. Which platform that was wasn't specified in news reports.

That boy was actually an undercover officer, and it's said that Duarte told the officer in explicit detail over the messaging app what kinds of sexual acts he was going to do to them. Eventually, the officer agreed to meet up with Duarte, giving him an address and a date to meet up, May 18th.

Duarte drove to that address with what police say was an intent to engage in sexual activity with the 15-year-old, but he was instead met with officers. He was arrested that day and indicted on July 14th on charges of online solicitation of a minor and a parole violation. Jail records indicate that Duarte was released from the Lubbock County Detention Center on July 29th.

Duarte pleaded guilty in court on Friday, August 20th. If his plea deal is accepted, he'll be sentenced at a later date to a minimum of 10 years in prison, and a maximum of life in prison.
