We are so close to Christmas that I can literally taste the buñuelos and champurrado, they're really good. With those tasty treats there are some even tastier events in store for everyone across the South Plains this weekend but we have to start off with Friday events.

Santa Carlson's Toys-To-Go

  • The Carlson Law Firm will have a free drive through event where kids can get a free gift. Of course Santa Claus will be there and kiddos will be able to get a few treats. This event helps children in need have a better holiday season even if their families can't afford it. Santa Carlson's Toys-To-Go is Friday December 15th from 6 to 8 p.m. at The Carlson Law Firm, children must be present to get their one free gift.

An Evening with the Grinch

  • The City of Lubbock Parks and Recreation Department will be hosting an evening with The Grinch. The Grinch will be available for photos while The Grinch movie is being screened. This event will be Friday, December 15th, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Mae Simmons Community Center. This event is free to attend and free for all ages.

A Magical Cirque Christmas

  • The Buddy Holly Hall is presenting A Magical Cirque Christmas for one night only. This show will be in Lubbock on Friday December 15 and is part of the 2023 to 2024 Broadway series. Tickets for “A Magical Cirque Christmas” are available to purchase at Buddyhollyhall.com or by calling 806-792-8339.

Miss Megan's Make Room

  • HoliDIY Crafting will be a two night event at Miss Megan's Make Room. Friday December 15 is the Sip, Shop, MAKE adult craft night event. This event will be from 5-9 p.m.. The next event will be December 16 and is the Crafting with the Clauses eventwith plenty of projects to choose from and will be from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. and is for all ages. Family & Friends Carriage Rides

  • There will be free carriage rides at Kingsgate North, near the FedEx, and Kingsgate South, near Malouf's. These free carriage rides will be Saturday, December 16, from 3 - 7 p.m. and Sunday, December 17, from noon - 4 p.m..

Wine and Christmas Cookie Pairing

  • English Newsom Cellars will be hosting a wine and cooking pairing event on Saturday, December 16, from 7 - 8:30 p.m.. You will get five classic cookies and five award winning wines that have been expertly paired and will enhance your holiday experience. Tickets are $25 each for this event.

Holidays on the Homefront

  • December 16 from 1 - 4 p.m. the Silent Wings Museum will be getting ready for Christmas like they did during World War II for an afternoon filled with activities and educational opportunities. Those activities do include gingerbread house decorating, DIY wrapping paper, paper chains, glider plane ornaments, paper dreidels, snowflake cutouts and more. Regular museum admission does apply.

Breakfast with the Grinch

  • Main Event will have an opportunity for kiddos to have a magical pancake breakfast with the Grinch. There will be lots of fun activities like holiday bowling, writing letters to Santa, and a snowball fight. This event will be Sunday, December 17, from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m.. Tickets do range from $18 or $35.
